OfflineThis rifle was sold on Gunbroker by a Paul Gamroth out of Oregon. It was a standard round barrel variation. Now it has an OB .22 LR only barrel AND red letter WINCHESTER engraved on the left side of the receiver. I will try to track down Paul and will add the rifle to the list of faked 61 in the Sticky thread above. https://www.proxibid.com/Firearms-Military-Artifacts/Firearms/C-High-Condition-Rare-Pre-War-Winchester-Model-61-Octagon-Barrel-Red-Letter-Slide-Action-Gallery-R/lotInformation/44366383
And I will notify Morphy.

OfflineJust talked to Dave Bushing with Murphy, he will have the listing pulled as soon as possible. Dave also wanted me to pass on his appreciation for your efforts in this area. He personally looked at the gun and felt it was genuine. I told him that these fake 61’s were hard to spot.
Good job, Michael! Keep up the good work!

OfflineThat would be interesting, May be worth asking, he’ll be back in the office Tuesday. I’m pretty sure we’d be more interested in where the consignor purchased it. Dave told me of a similar situation with a 92 recently, it sold without anyone noticing and it was quite a mess.
