Thank you Tony. Rimfire is my collecting direction now. 52C sporting grooved receiver up next, if I can bring myself to pony up for one of these gems with condition.

I hate to break the news to you, Rick, but the Winchester 52-C Sporting rifle never had a grooved receiver.  The Winchester Model 75 Sporting rifle had a grooved receiver late in production, and perhaps that’s what you’re after.

Was just exploring about the 52C factory drilled for scope blocks almost at the same time as handling my 1958 model 75 sporting. Too many rim fires on the brain.

But Rick, if you do ever find one ( a grooved receiver Model 52C Sporting), not only will you become a legend in your own time — your portrait on the cover of the Collector — but you will have instantly fully funded your pension.

It may take a while…

Well done Rick, I hope to see them at a show

Thanks Henry and yes maybe soon. I don’t think I would get the attention of some of your rim fire beauties but appreciate the acknowledgment.

That 69 is especially impressive, Rick! I’ve been casually looking for a 69 to complement my 69A but for some reason haven’t found one in good condition. All the ones I’ve found have evidently experienced countless adventures in the hands of owners who had no thought of preservation. I brought 10-11 of my favorite rimfires to Cody one year when I had nothing to sell. It was a lot of fun but some folks were very disappointed that none were for sale. The R-word rimfires are pleasing to my eye as well, limited resources keep me from pursuing the rimfires from Ilion.

Thanks Mike. The 69 was only by luck that I found it and the condition was fantastic. Totally understand the limited resources, one of the reasons I started focussing on high condition rimfire and away from lever actions. The R collection were all purchased separately and again, lucky to find the 5 all in high condition. They compliment each other very well.

Was finally able to get my daughter to put them all together when visiting at Xmas. A little outside my computer abilities.

Very nice, Rick. Thanks for sharing them with us and thanks to your IT staff for letting us enjoy some awesome eye candy. One thing that attracts me to the Winchester rimfires is they remind us that inexpensive doesn’t have to mean cheaply made. The guns in your pictures were well-made from quality materials…and they’re fun to shoot!

Thanks tsillik/Mike and yes with today’s current prices for 90%+ standard guns, not to mention deluxe and cc, they’re now beyond my budget so I’ve leaned toward collectible high condition rimfires with some examples still expensive but as you stated, “were well-made from quality materials…and they’re fun to shoot!”.
