OfflineI hope you guys can tolerate another request for help with a Model 69A. I have one in my safe right now that belonged to my late dad, and will soon go to my son. According to my brother, it was dad’s first rifle. We know he got it after his brief US Army service at the end of WWII and before I was born in 1957.
It has the abbreviated “22 S, L, LR” stamp, a straight bolt handle, grooved trigger, plain receiver top, and no holes drilled and tapped anywhere. The stock has a tapered front end and no swivels. (I think my brother refinished the stock not long ago.)
Thanks in advance for any info and suggestions.![]()

OfflineWelcome to the WACA forum!
Based on your description, the grooved trigger with a straight bolt were overlapping dates which narrows the production date down to just a few months. Your Model 69A (catalog number G6902R) was assembled circa April-June of 1949.
If there is a 2-digit barrel date on the underside of the barrel it will likely be either a “48” or “49” (most do not have a date though).

OfflineThanks for the very quick reply. No date or other stamps on the underside of the barrel.
It looks in good condition overall, and my brother told me it shoots really well. But I found it pretty dirty, and cleaned the bolt–maybe for the first time since my dad bought it! He was a “don’t fix things til they stop working” guy.
