Pick this up at auction last week $100. I call it my “transitional” 60 A. 23” barrel, with finger grooves, no bolt window. Barrel stamped 33. I assume it was in the opening run of the 60 A since it has a mix of 60 / 60A features? Any input is helpful.
THX.

BTW , I just got Jeff’s book on the 69, best money I ever spent on a Winchester book. Goldmine and not just for 69 questions.
I have a few of these rifles. All different. The only one with a safety window is a 60-A Target. I have never seen a M60 or 60-A standard rifle with a bolt window. There are so many variations of this rifle, it is hard to keep up with them all. They are all really nice rifles, especially the M60-A Target. Big Larry

Big Larry, That is interesting on the bolt window. I have a 60A Standard rifle that has a 27″ barrel with finger grooves in the forearm that does have the bolt window.
Interesting. I have 4 M60’s and M60A’s and they are all different. I did sell one of my M60-A Target rifles. Big Larry
Just rechecked and I have 2 sporting 22’s. A M60 and a M60-A. Both have the short grooved stock and 23″ bbls. The target rifle has a 27″ bbl and the safety cutout. I assume all 3 rifles are correct.
Clarence is correct about the books. Look at what Schwings 22 books are bringing. Besides, Clarence is correct about just about everything. Ha Ha Ha !!! Big Larry

Look at what Houze’s 52 book (which doesn’t hold a candle to Jeff’s 69 book) is bringing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225743851833?hash=item348f61d139:g:LnwAAOSw1uZf~gO5&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAABALzoa%2FNmfT3TJslwxcxcy2cHDz2oi2prUxXuHx0WvrB9Cf4modDPfkfCtjDq2HA4HjL75oGmkkzVfQ6EUl7T0KkQmIoOKayd%2BW3ZYc2Aey5ZlotvW7c3QY3MKwVwHJOtvZWqAvea8vsysklGJs1kbn0HGdyMy328vcCnQ%2BlNfyagp3%2BKVfCJEDioa2TWIzCWEHx%2FXUJAMk0VjTJuyUH8JDgDrvAIplSXdb9MsokDKNXLk%2F5uwM3F7SsOdVesQoRB2AWK0KueXQZYDDzObum03n04sX7yAXnkhcA4Y8ZN7dz%2BzuCnAOBbGic6TydxoLAbRDGNBybDg%2FQSZn1%2FqPxzOE4%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR871iJSLYw
In this case, “bringing” isn’t correct, as it won’t sell at that price. Another is currently listed at $400, & I doubt it will sell either. Average ebay selling price is about $250, once in a while, $200. But still…the cover price on my ’97 copy is $35, but I paid no more than $30 (or less) from a gunshow book-dealer. The guns haven’t gone up anywhere near that much since then!
Same here about the buying price of mine. My book is dog eared and has all kinds of notes written in it. I do not collect M52’s any longer but still have 6 of them. No plans to rid myself of them. In the meantime, my book is a quick reference just in case. No, not as nice as JWA’s book, but then, none of the available gun books are. Big Larry

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the kind words! The book on the Model 75 is in the same format but even more info. It is finally moving forward and should be available in the next 6 months.
Best Regards,
Jeff
