9422 no stamp on barrel

Hello

i just purchased a 9422 22lr made in 1982 but it has no barrel stamp just the Winchester proof make 

can anyone tell me how this could happen or is it common

It quite possibly is a replacement barrel.

Hi Brad,

I also have a 9422 with no “Winchester” roll-marking on the barrel, just the proof marks and I am fairly certain it is not a replacement barrel.  I suspect that a few came out of the factory without the roll-marking.
