In 2005 Winchester produced the 9422 Tribute in 3 models, Tribute, High Grade Tribute and Ultra High Grade
Tribute. Total production was to be 9422 with 200 of the Ultra High Grade. I have been able to discover that total production never reached 9422.
I was not able to discover just how many were produced. I assume the 200 Ultra Grades were produced, however, I was not able to discover how
many High Grade Tributes were produced. These were the last 9422’s produced in New Haven. Anyone have any idea where I can find out the
total High Grade Tributes produced?
One of the problems is, there are numerous refinished original stocks and forearms that were never installed and were sold when the factory closed. Many guns released as plain-jane are being dressed up as more expensive models. There is no way to know how a 9422 was released. This happens across the model range but I know of a 9422 builder in CT.

Man, the fakers will fake anything. I guess the safest way to buy one of the Final Tribute High Grades, or Custom High grade 9422’s is to buy one new in box, where the end label of the box has the serial number and description that matches the gun inside the box.
Unless they also faked the box….
If you can’t convince them, confuse them
Sounds like my original post was misunderstood! The 9422 Tribute was produced in 2005. It was produced in the New Haven plant and consisted of three models I named in my previous post. I purchased a High Grade Tribute, and have the unfired gun
in the box with all tags and paperwork as well as the 2005 catalogue. The total production was to be 9422 firearms.
There were 200 of the Ultra Grade model produced. I am trying to determine how many of the 9422 firearms were
produced in the High Grade and how many of the tribute model were produced.
Nobody can answer your questions. The information was lost when the world lost Winchester. The records didn’t mean much to anyone at the time.

This is not a definitive answer by any means; but, based on what I have seen in the past few months the preliminary indication is that they made most, if not all, of the announced High Grades. So far, I have recorded 16 of the High Grade ranging from FTS0050 to FTS9353. As to the Custom Tributes, I have found four: ranging from FTC046 to FTC101. For the most part, these are guns that have appeared on auction or sales sites in the past year so there must be more…..

I purchased fts0052 in 2006. At that time Winchester/Browning would provide what ever information was available. I am not sure that is the case today. One of their employees told me there were 328 produced. If he is right it seems rare.
fyi..

Can anyone confirm the 328 number for high grade final tribute guns?
I’m looking at a 9422M Legacy high grade and I’ve never seen one before in 22 mag. Seems like it’s a very rare gun.
From a similar thread on RFC:
Long story even longer, a WACA member contacted me hearing that I had a collection of 9422’s. He had a 1972 gun and was looking for a 9422 Tribute Hi-grade. He was making a display for the Winchester Collectors and wanted a first and last type example. I was able to help him out and sold him the Tribute Hi-grade he was looking for with the most beautiful wood I have seen on any. He had contacted Winchester (must now be Browning as the letter has a Browning header) and through some extra effort by their employees (one in particular) he was able to get an official letter with the numbers of Tributes manufactured. As a favor for selling him the rifle he was looking for, he sent me a copy of the original letter. According to Browning the numbers are as follows:
9422 total Tribute models made.
1072 LR Hi-Grade
850 Magnum Hi-Grade
4300 LR Special Edition
3200 Magnum Special Edition
There were also 222 Custom Guns madeThere is no break down of how many of each were Legacy or Carbine models however.
