Hi all. New to me 69A.
Ramped front sight, blank in Rear dovetail. Straight bolt handle. Non grooved receiver.
Bolt handle hitting rear sight windage knob in original forward position of side base.
I believe that this is not the original sight, the base is wrong and it’s the wrong sight.
The sight is a Lyman 57 EF
Questions:
1-What is the model description of this rifle?
2-What would be the correct Rear sight originally?
Can send pictures. Not a member yet.

Based on the barrel roll-stamp that spells out the “SHORT, LONG and LONG RIFLE” chambering my best guess is that your rifle is a G6902 Type 3 sporting rifle. The change to the shorter “SL or LR” style of roll mark occurred in late 1946. A G6902 was originally equipped with a Winchester 75C bead front sight (no ramped and no hood) and a Winchester 32B barrel-mounted rear sight.
Does the stock have a pretty blunt front end (1938 to 1942 vintage) or is it obviously tapered (~1946ish)?
A less-likely candidate is the pre-WW2 G6941 Type 1 or Type 2A Match rifle. A few pre-WW2 Match rifles were equipped with ramped and hooded Winchester 97C front sights and was drilled and tapped for the Lyman 57E/57EW receiver sight but there was no groove in the barrel for a sporting sight. What is the distance between the center pair of holes on the left rear of the receiver – center-to-center spacing is 0.52 inches for the 57E/57EW sights?
Does the stock have any holes for sling swivels? That was not standard on 6902 Sporting Rifles but was for the 6941 Match.
Are there two pairs of scope-base mounting holes on the top of the barrel – also not standard on 6902 Sporting Rifles but were for the 6941 Match.

Thank you for taking the time to reply with your wealth of knowledge and interest. It’s appreciated.👏
The forend slopes/tapers at the tip.
There are sling studs, they appear Winchester type, not able to determine.
There are no threaded holes in the barrel.
The rear holes in ths rounded receiver are
.775″ on center.
I believe that someone has tried to make this gun something that it is not.
I’d like to send you some pictures to further detail this piece.
