Just found 1906 with nickel finish.  Gun has not been stripped but finish is dull.  Does this make sense?  Rear sight is blued and on backwards so somebody has at least changed sight.  Seller said gun has been in his family since he was a kid and always looked the same.  I’d guess he is about 65.   Any ideas?   Thanks for any help or ideas.  Cody says s/n applied  10/1918

Jeff,

The dull looking nickel plating is what I would expect to see on a pre war Winchester.

Thanks Bert.    That’s what I was hoping.  Now to find value.   Stock has had a coat of finish, but not sanded that i can tell.

Jeff,

In the future, keep all related posts in the same topic string. Jumping between topic strings leads to confusion.

I agree with Erin… your Model 1906 does not appear to be nickel plated, Instead, it has had all of the original finish removed, and it s now showing bare (in the white) steel. The wood has sanded and refinished.
