Have a pristine 1903 from many years ago.  It has a scope mounted.   Memories of protracted back and forth with a collector about the extra holes in a

prewar 70 Hornet with a fine Fecker mounted still haunt me.  Is the 03 trashed because of the scope?  Thanks for any information you might provide.

More than likely the answer is Yes. Extra (non-factory) drilled & tapped holes are typically looked at in a negative light. What type of scope is on it?

Collecting and value are subjective and can lead to heated discussions. I collect used 22 cal Winchesters , most with character. By that I mean period correct additions … slings, target sights, scopes . I don’t mind as long as they were or could of been additions made by the original owner to make the gun his or hers. I am among the minority. Collect what you love.
