I have an 1890 and replaced the firing pin with a chisel tip one. I noticed that there are two different firing pins. The chisel tip and one that is not. Does anyone know when and why Winchester changed them? I cannot seem to find the information anywhere.

Thanks

The change from a round tip firing pin to the chisel tip provided better ignition of the priming compound of the rimfire cartridge. I believe the change was made about the time of the change from second model to third model 1890s.
