Hi,
I’m new to this Forum and not sure if this the correct site. Henry being the forerunner to Winchester and not finding a Henry (Original) forum I am trying here.
I just picked up an original 1860 Henry rifle, First Model in decent, not pristine condition. I have some questions and it is missing a few small parts. I located an original rear sight but still need the front sling mount and cleaning rod. Also, the top barrel flat has 3 additional open dovetail slots. I’m wondering if they used some type of scope or moved the rear scope forward.
Thanks, Bob
You shouldn’t have to much trouble locating sites and there is a cleaning rod on Guns international, ( Little Joe) as I recall, but You had better be prepared for the sticker shock.

An original rear ladder type sight is hard to find. If you find a real one they can be as much as $1000. Repos are about $250. The later Henry’s used a metal cleaning rod that looks just like the later ones. Again, repo rods are out there and usually at real prices. Repo wood rods go for $1000 and repo metal rods can run $300 and up.
The Henry was never chambered for a center fire. A small number of the late 66’s were. Like limestone said, the extra dovetails really kill any collector value. No one has made Henry barrels for awhile that I know of but they can be made.
The 66 was the only rim fire that I ever heard of being converted.
