I should have found it before I posted.  After an extensive search I found it.  Catalog dated JUNE 1, 1960.   RDB

Thanks for posting that Roger–great info.  Mine closely resembles the 3260 sling in the photo.  Nice to know that I have a a complete sling that’s not missing a keeper.  Also, didn’t realize Winchester offered the swivel hooks all the way into the 1960’s.

That’s very surprising, if correct, considering the scarcity of them today.  Despite the date on the parts sheet, I can’t help being a little skeptical that they were actually still available, because discontinued parts sometimes remained included in catalog illustrations.

A fairly late sling.  None of the many slings shown in JWA’s Model 69 book, covering the period 1935-1963 are marked.

Yes, fairly late.  Winchester did not start using “circle” R for registered trademark after their name until after 1961.  The slings marked as yours were manufactuured and sold from the late 60’s and into the 70’s.  Other than that, the design remained relatively unchanged.

Jeff, what do you think of the 1960 price list showing the fish-hook swivels?  There it is in “black & white,” but I remain skeptical, because I have numerous original catalogs with “discontinued” hand-stamped over various products; obviously, it was cheaper to do that than delete those products from the catalog.  But by 1960, who was there to do any hand-stamping?

Absent any comments about the sling I would conclude that it’s not a Winchester issued sling or that very little (if any) information exists about early Winchester leather slings that don’t have the PAT 1897 roller buckle.

I have a Winchester marked sling like this one. Bought new in the mid 1970s. Still in original package.

Can anyone advise if the hook style swivels for the m1894 were different lengths(front/rear) for carbine versus rifle?

Thanks Clarence. Someone mentioned to me a while back, one was shorter than the other. ??
