Steve 004,Here’s a 22″ 33 that just sold on GB for $4100, it’s standard, except the 22″ barrel
CJ – thanks for posting. I hadn’t seen this one. That’s a desirable rifle in my book. And how often to you see a proof mark forward of the rear sight? Cool? So, what would Winchester have needed to do with this rifle to have called it an extralightweight or lightweight? CJ – how does this rifle differ from yours?
Nice gun for sure, but since this is a forum where we all are here to learn.
Honest wear, for sure, but .33 WCF is a little less desirable, and so at $4148 shipped, plus sales tax, which depends on what state you are in, plus FFL fees, it’s quickly “getting up there”.
Maybe I don’t have an adequate grasp of recent trends in the market, but I wouldn’t want to spend much more than $3500 on this one, in total, but certainly not anywhere near $4000.
Of course, this is an opinion, and doesn’t mean I am correct nor up on recent trends.

The final bid price this seller routinely receives is higher than most of us would pay. As we have discussed, he has a strong following and long history of trustworthy selling. He often has very nice pieces, he is knowledgeable, has excellent descriptions and always takes a ton of quality photos. For guys who have the money and can’t get out to many shows, he offers a viable option to do some quality collecting. Even though the final price might be high, figure what it costs to travel a distance to a gunshow – gas, food, hotel, and if you do it the right way, you’ve also purchased a table so you can be there during set-up. If you buy one gun at the show, the final cost will be a lot more than you handed to the dealer for the gun.
Back to this rifle, an interesting aspect is it is a heck of a lot rarer in a .33 than were it chambering in .45-70. I’m not saying it’s worth more in .33 vs. .45-70 as the popularity of the .45-70 is overriding.
In my opinion, it’s the rare gun guy (not referring to anyone here) that would look at this rifle and not say, “it’s just a .33.” When pointed out it has a 22 inch barrel, I think most wouldn’t change their opinion. Austin appropriates highlights the rarity in his description.
