Very nice rifle Chuck. Yes the wood caught my eye as well. I like your Rocky Mountain front sight on yours.

Actually the front sight is ivory. I sold this gun to buy a nicer 73. Randy Saba bought it at the auction and probably sold it very soon after. The front sight did not letter.

Chuck – I also like your rifle. That’s my kind of gun. Nice even wear, honest, special (e.g. the barrel is special order and the wood is above average). Well cared for. To me, there is a dimension to a rifle like this that is superior to the $50K high condition pieces we see from the big auction houses and high roller dealers. A very pleasing piece to enjoy.
Steve this is the condition I like to buy. I have some nicer but I am happy with guns like this. Used but not abused.

Chuck – we are very similar in this regard. I too, have pieces in much nicer condition, but guns like the ’73 you showed make me quite happy. In my mind, a great deal of enjoyment can be found in rifles like this. And again, you don’t have to pay and arm and a leg for them.
When I said above, “you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for them” I realize that is not necessarily true. Here’s a 28 inch barreled one from RIA a few months back. It’s not even a .44-40! I can’t say I see much for blue either.

Steve that’s $6100 Canadian & it would be a tall order to get that kind of money in Canada with its condition. Henry Mero would be able to speak more about what price he would pay for it in Canada.

I think this one was driven by the 28″ barrel. Normally you could get more finish for the selling price.
