Congrats on a sweet little rifle! Really like that tang sight.

They should have made this rifle in 44 WCF. I guess by the scarcity of 44’s in the M53, it had lost its popularity. I wonder how many of these scarce rifles were swiss cheesed for scopes? Both my M53’s have some receiver flaking. UGH !!!! Enjoy your new treasure. Big Larry
Funny you should ask… Of the (455) Model 65 rifles I have surveyed thus far, (34) of them have been drilled & tapped for mounting a scope, or in mathematical terms, 7.47%

Thanks Big Larry. This 65 has a 95% sister that has my name on it. Also in 25-20
I used to have a M65 in 218 Bee, but not a big collector, I found out later it had been swiss cheesed and reblued. I am older and smarter now and have 4 nice M1892’s all in 44 WCF. I also have a very nice M53 in 44 WCF as well as one in 32-20. Some day I will have another M65 and M71 as well. Big Larry
