Excited to show this one off, Been collecting for a while 13 years + and never had the right chance at a original trapper , this Model 1892 was built in 1918 and has 16” barrel ,and 25-20 is one of the rarest  calibers , serial number 850345.

“It don’t get no better!”

Next Summer at Cody,  you will be expected to buy drinks all around. The good news is each member who accepts your hospitality will buy you a drink in return. Somebody will bring along a shutter to carry you back your hotel.

Congratulations. That is one hell of a Winchester.

I noticed that Amoskeag is selling a handful of “trappers” in a couple weeks. Including a 73 in 44!

That’s a great trapper. Better condition than you see most in.

Within the first 288,000 Model 1892’s manufactured there were 2,473 16 inch saddle ring carbines. NONE of them were chambered for 25-20 WCF. 95% are 44 WCF caliber. When I look at my survey data of rifles found out in the real world over the entire production history of the 1892’s the first 25-20 shows up at SN 471629. I don’t have another one until 289,702 rifles later at SN 761331!! From that point on I have 13 SN’s fairly evenly distributed over the next 181,394 SN’s up to 942725. Trying to extrapolate just how many were manufactured is a tough job since the distribution is obviously not constant. Let it be said that any 16% saddle ring carbine other than a 44 WCF is a difficult rifle to acquire!
