Looking at buying this 94 from an individual. It has a dom of 1904. The sights have been replaced with Lyman and marbles. The condition is very good with some minor freckling on the metal and some dents on the underside of the fore arm. The barrel measures 23 inches ? IT is 1 inch from the muzzle to the rear of the front sight. What else should I be aware of on this gun and what would be a fair dollar value for it? I forgot to mention the extra holes in the receiver.

It just depends on what you pay for it and if you just want it for a shooter. It is no longer collectable, the barrel has been bobbed a few inches and like you said the extra holes and it just might be the light but the stock is darker than the forearm which points to swapped wood.

Its the distance from the mag tube ring to the muzzle that is wrong. It should be around 4". They cut the barrel and the tube, then recut the front sight dovetail.

The distance from the muzzle face to center of the front sight dovetail slot should be 15/16", or .75" from the muzzle to the forward edge of the dovetail slot. The magazine tube retaining ring should be 3.75" from the muzzle to the retaining pin.
I personally would not pay $600 for that rifle.
