I found this on Craigslist for $275.00. Since it was a rather minimal investment, I figured I would take a gamble and buy it. However, I can’t find out much information about them. Not sure if it’s true or not, but when researching, I found that only a couple of these are known to exist. Other than a couple bullet holes, it’s in excellent condition. It’s all cast iron with a wood-grain porcelain finish (and very heavy). If anyone has any information or an approximate value, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

(two in the world? $15000.00)

Buy the expensive one. Buy the bullet hole one. Then you’ll have a corner on the market–every one in the known world!
That bullet hole stove would do well for heating my place in the woods.

Thank you, especially for the newspaper ad. $70.00 back in 1928 is nearly $1,000.00 today. A pretty spendy piece going into the Great Depression. I’m guessing most of these were scrapped during WWII and beyond. I did try contacting the seller of the $15,000.00 one to see if they actually sold it and for what amount, but got no response. I’ve been trying to dig up information about them, but haven’t been too successful. I see the Gole’s are big Winchester memorabilia collectors and I may try contacting them about it. Anyway, if there really are just 2 known to exist, I think the $275.00 buy was pretty good.

Ok, so first of all the winchester rarity book post this in there for I think $2000. Sadly I have seen it for sale for $450 a LOT and know takers. Although it is cool and an item from the winchester store age its not that valuable. Mainly because its SO SO SO HEAVY. The reality is a lot of the big bulky store advertising items are not worth what you might think. That guy that wanted $15,000 did not sell it. I know the last one I saw sell for $450 and that was high. Sorry to burst the bubble but I’ve been collecting winchester store items for over 15 years and have many rare pieces but to be honestly I would not want the stove for the very reasons I have listed, way to heavy.
