I am wondering if anyone has information on Mod. 1873 s.r.c. ser#143213. The letter says type carbine, engraved, gold trim Peruvian Coat of Arms on left hand side plate in center, Xstock, Etc. recv’d Jan 16 1884, shipped Jan. 16 1884 order #9416. I am really curious as to what Etc. means in the description and any other info someone may have on it. I will try to get some pics posted.

Harry,
There was several of those guns made to the same spec in consecutive serial numbers. I have 143212, 143213 and 143216 all the same in my survey and I suspect 214 and 215 will be the configuration. I have run across the Etc. in the ledger before and was used just like you would imagine. It was a group of guns that were ordered less a list of parts that were not needed to develop the 1873 22 and at the end if the list they had “Etc.” If you could post a picture of the letter or better if you had the ledger entry you could figure out what else they were inferring.

O K thanks Bob for the reply. This gun’s been in Ontario for about 7-8 years, I believe it was purchased in Florida, however I ended up with it. It is not “My kind of gun” but I’m sure I’ll be able to trade it off for something interesting that I like,(.94 trappers) and such.

It was in a Julia’s auction in 07
