All,
Am looking forward to the upcoming Cody meeting and gun show. Hoping to meet and thank a number of people on the forum who have been so patient and kind with feedback and information. Have noticed at most gun shows and recent auctions that it is becoming more common to tie wrap the guns so the action can not be manipulated. Assume this is for safety/liability purposes and get all that, just bothers me a bit when it comes down to purchase decision time. I guess that is where the return policy comes into play.
Was just wondering if the Cody show had to conform to the same policy.
Regards,
It is a requirement at most of the gun shows nowadays. Safety and liability being the main driving emphasis behind it. Most of the shows I attend the seller can remove the tie-wrap for inspection purposes and re-ziptie it when the inspection is complete. While technically that may be against some rules it seems to be a common occurrence and is the way I frequently see it handled.
I too am looking forward to Cody again this year and hope to see all of you there!

Gentlemen,
I can confirm that the tie wraps are required at the Cody show, but as JWA mentioned, they can be removed for bore inspections and such. I have tables at this show and I am more than happy to pull the ties if someone seems seriously interested in the gun. If you’ve not been to the Cody show, you are in for a treat. Its a smaller venue than some of the other shows, but the quality of the guns for sale and/or display is quite impressive, not to mention the first class folks that always show up. There’s something about this show that just feels like one big happy family gathered together doing what they love to do.
Come one, come all……..hope to see more new faces this year.

Yes, tie wraps were required but almost every dealer was equipped to remove and replace them.
Great show! My first, unless I meet an untimely death it won’t be my last.

Among other things I scored an 1892 in 38WCF and an 1895 in 30US. Also scored an autographed copy of Bert’s book, a few parts and various WACA swag.
