That is a Good looking Take Down rifle. Winchester used what they referred to as “Select” grain walnut stocks on the Take Down rifles. In my research survey for serial numbers 354000 through 1012753 (the end of the year 1927), I have recorded 2,522 Model 1894 Rifles (3,018 Carbines), and of that number of rifles, 613 of them are Take Downs. There are specific serial number ranges were nearly all of the Rifles were takedowns (large batches).

Bert, I forgot to mention that it is in 32 W.S. It’s a nice condition rifle that was used but taken care of. It is the first one I’ve had with a tunnel sight. I also bought a carbine at the same time. Here are the specs. For your survey (if you don’t have it already)
1894 SRC #567044, 30 WCF, standard carbine sights 44 rear, marbles 94C front. Lovely gumwood stocks that are not cracked. ? The ring is missing so I’ll be looking for one.
Jschaal,
Great looking rifle in one of my favorite configurations, full octagon with half mag. Its good that the buttstock and buttplate have matching numbers, especially if that assembly number is also stamped on the lower tang.
