Michael; are they anything special with a stainless barrel. I would gladly trade it foe a 1890 with the stainless barrel.

Since the barrel is non original to the rifle it is not anything special. I have found 16 rifles with original Stainless Steel barrel so they are definitely a rare configuration. The fact that the finish on them is always so poor tends to diminish the desire of them for collectors.
