Hello Bruce,
I can tell you that the rifle used to be owned by another member on this forum! It was manufactured during 1907 and the markings on it are all correct for its serial number range. It does look like the rear sight has been filed own at some point.

The 25-20 and 32-20 were very popular during this time. In fact,, in my survey of 92 takedown rifles I dont have a large caliber takedown showing up between serials 392,633 to 520,529 (48 takedowns falling within this range). Michael may be able to confirm this from his records as well–unless I missed a takedown or two somewhere.

Chris,
I have a total of 426 T/D rifles in my survey to date. I have 41 total between serials 392,633 to 520,529, One is a 44 WCF and 2 are 38 WCF. We need to compare data sets. I do want to make certain that my "sampling method" is not skewed by your data since you were collecting only T/D rifles over a long period of time whereas I am cataloging all configurations for much of the same time period.

Thanks for information Guys,
Michael I am little confused on Rear sights , The sight on this 92 looks like a good flat top sporting rear sight. The confusion is in the rear semi buckhorn sporting sight have a jagged or serrated edge on the outside edges of the sight right. Does the flat top sporting rear sight have the same jagged edges along the outside edges of sight?
I was just looking in the forum here on "Winchester Sights" under Winchester Model 1894 sight project reference 1908-1915 page 15, Shows the two different sights. What kind do think this sight is ? All take some better pictures if needed.
Thanks Bruce

I haven’t owned a 1892 but deep down have a craving for something in 25-20 someday. Hope it turns out to be a good shooting rifle. Woodwork on that one looks prettier than just plain old straight grain; nice bonus on the take down rifles.

Michael,
Here is some better pictures of rear sight.
