Chuck: Is the 50-105 a board dummy? Did you get it from Ray Giles? They are very rare as you know. Bill
Yes, it is a board dummy. I should have bought the one Ray had but didn’t. It taught me a lesson so when this one became available I stepped up and bought it.
I now have single cartridges from all the Winchester Models from the Volcanic through the 1895. Plus many after the 1895. But, maybe not all of them for the 1885 since there were about 90 of these. The 85 was the test mule for cartridges and shot many experimental and Winchester cartridges loaded for other gun manufacturers.

Chuck,It would be pretty neat to see them lined up starting with what you have with the Volcanic. Nice collection, and pics.
Thanks for sharing,
Anthony
I will keep that in mind. I need to take some pictures of some of the early primers too. I’m not going to line up every WRACo cartridge I have from the 73 through the 95. We are talking dozens. Way to much work but I can put the Volcanic rounds next to the 50’s.
I thought I would add to this interesting thread that Chuck started, as I agree it’s very interesting.
A couple Board Dummies make up the pictures, in the .50-105 EX. and the .50-100-450
I tried to show a variety, according to the WRACo .50 caliber cartridges, as the .50-110, is the only one not represented in a Board Dummy, as they are highly sought after and hard to find, like the other Board Dummies are. Some of the primers are, “W”, stamped.

That’s a real nice box to have. I only have singles of the 50-100-450. Singles do come up for sale.I did buy a 50-140 EX board dummy. Some months back I tried to buy a loaded round but I could not get the seller under $2,000.
I agree with you Chuck, as I have always tried to find them also. When I was younger, I never wanted a cartridge, let alone one that had holes in it.
Boy was I uninformed. Who knows how many I passed up on. They can get pricey, like you said.

Steve,
I can agree with you on that. For me it has really educated me, in a different way, on the development of many different firearms, over the years.
Very enjoyable.
