Re-New to Me. I just bought, (traded) this one back. I need to find a proper Vernier midrange sight for it that I can afford. Then I need to find a left handed shooter for it.

What inspired you to buy that Schuetzen Rifle?
Other than the off-side cheek piece, it is a 100% standard 2nd variation Schuetzen rifle. I have found several other identical Schuetzen rifles listed in the records with the left-eye dominant cheek piece butt stock.
Expect to pay approximately $1,000 for an appropriate condition Mid-range vernier tang sight. The Long-range Soule vernier sight on it now is worth approximately $450.

Beautiful gun Henry. Are the screws on top of the barrel in front of the receiver factory? for a scope block?

Rick , of course they are not factory, it did come with a A5 scope mounted, which I took off . I need to find 4 plugs for the holes. Bert, I bought it cause it’s purty and somebody else will want it that has a mint 1894 fancy sporting rifle with about 14 extra features that They want to trade me for it.

Henry, I actually wasn’t sure being a target rifle and just figured Winchester would pretty much do anything you would ask.1885s aren’t in my wheelhouse but, certainly wouldn’t be opposed to adding one to my collection someday. Very nice gun just the same.

A beautiful 1885. You wouldn’t have acquired that from a fellow that lives East of London and south of the 401 near a tiny hamlet, would you? I don’t recall exactly, but he had/has one or two gorgeous 1885’s Scheutzen rifles.
