Here’s one that is coming to Auction, as it’s a shame it has been refinished, and abused. The ad states 1897, as an antique, which the WACA site shows serial number #84668, was mfg. in 1900.
If nothing else, maybe it will help in the model 1894 survey.

Steve,
I can feel you’re pain.
So this one hammered at $710.00, plus the juice, and S/H if not picked up locally.
My question is now, who would go after something like this?
A pawn shop, maybe who is low on inventory and has an FFL License, and tries to move it as an old Winchester, and possibly spinning a yarn, just to make a buck?
Just one thought.
I just can’t imagine, anyone buying this, and what they would do with it!

If the bore is good, it would have utility as a silhouette gun.

What’s a Silhouette gun?
Anthony
Read all about it

In lever-gun rifle caliber silhouette specifically, the steel targets are at 50, 100, 150, and 200 yards. Most folks shoot Winchester or Marlin rifles or carbines, and 38-55 is a popular caliber choice.
Then there is pistol caliber and smallbore (.22).
