Dear WWCA forum, I hope you are all well. I have inherited what is believed to be a Winchester 1873 saddle ring rifle from my grandfather, and my father and I are trying to restore some of the original parts that came with it. My grandfather replaced some of the rifle’s screws with generic ones, and we are specifically looking for the screws that go in the following areas (see google drive photos). I have searched online for exploded views of this model, but I cannot find this particular variant, and I am afraid of choosing the wrong screws. If anyone here could help me identify them, I would greatly appreciate it.

Homesteadparts.com has what you need for your 3rd model carbine. What is the serial number so I can add it to my research survey. Its kind of hard to see the middle digits with the red circle. I think its 183314B. I have a pdf of a parts breakdown and disassembly instructions from a old American Rifleman but its for the rifle not the carbine. All the screws will be the same as a rifle except for the barrel bands. I will see if I can attach it.

Hi 1873man,
Thanks so much! I’ve been browsing their site, and it looks like they have a screw set for the third model, too.

Regarding the serial number, it appears to be 189914B, P, or R.
I’ve added another picture to my folder in case you want to check it out yourself.

However, I’m having trouble finishing my screw set purchase. The seller needs me to confirm the length of the magazine plug screw, and I have no idea.

There is a screw that holds the plug in the end of the magazine tube that comes in from the bottom. Its ether a short screw that just threads into the plug or its a long one that goes all the way through the plug and goes into a hole in the bottom of the barrel. In the parts diagram its #59. Chances are you have a short one. Its going to be one of these.

Thank you for all your help. I’ve ordered the parts and looking forward to restore all screws.
