I have a 1873 with a round barrel, but it’s not marked what caliber it is. I know it’s 44-40, but I’m surprised it’s not marked like other examples I’ve seen. It’s the second model 47xxx. Can anyone offer any additional info for me. Also whats the rifling twist rate?

OfflineScott,
When the 73 was first made they did not mark the caliber because it was only caliber. Even when they came out with the 38 caliber which was marked they did not mark the 44 for a while.

OfflineScott,
Rifling on a 44 rifle is 1 in 36
