Bill,
When you say broken, does that mean just a crack at the hinge point? If so that’s not to hard to fix. I have seen them drilled and pinned or welded in the center.
When the chamber is closed the link is over center and will withstand the recoil, the problem is ejecting the spent case. T/R

If its a 73 just buy another off of ebay but if its for a Henry or 76 than your going to have to repair it. Generally its the center hinge that cracks and pulls open when someone tries to pull out a stuck shell. You would have to press out the hinge pin then weld it up carefully, remachine it and assemble. There is no refinish since they were assembled in the white.
