Hello All, Would you please have a look at the attached photo which shows two identical magazine followers on the left that were found in large caliber 1873 rifles, and a correct large caliber 1873 follower with the tapered opening on the right? Both types have the same outside dimensions, but different openings. I would like to confirm which model rifle the followers on the left are for. Thanks and regards.

From what I see its a change in production with the ones with a small ID in early production to the larger ID later in production which would lighten it up reducing gun weight. Haven’t looked at enough of them to narrow down the time frame since you have to remove it to tell but its in the 300,000 to 400,000 range.
