I bought some old rifles from a friend and one is a Model 94 standard rifle, DOM: 1899. I looked at these a few years back and this old 94 cycled easily, chambered/ejected easily. Yesterday when I went to buy the collection the 94 levered open and then immediately stuck open. Feels like it’s blocked metal to metal from moving rather than cruded up. I’ll take it to my gunsmith if there’s not an easy solution. My experience is with 1890’s and not lever guns so I’m reluctant to disassemble the 94. Help?
The first place I’d check is around the carrier and link. Since the carrier has to retract (go down) before anything else happens inside the receiver, I’d look for some loose particle of a brass cartridge, perhaps even a loose expended primer, that is keeping the carrier from going down.

Had one that got froze up one time because the loading gate spring steel was sprung and was hanging on the carrier, kept the bolt/lever from cycling.
Hard to say without pics.
