I found a splendid M94 SRC .30 WCF circa 1920 with a buffed receiver. It is is a good shooter but offended my eye with the non original finish on the receiver. Since I build American Long Rifles circa 1800 I am quite familiar with cold rusting. Using Laurel Mountain Forge Cold Rust formula I managed to achieve a nice even patina exactly as you would expect. It was worked down with 0000 steel wool and appears original to my eye. It certainly looks better than freshly buffed. What period in Winchester M94 history was this imperfect finish used because most of the SRC’s I find have little receiver blue?
