Can anyone advise if there’s a way to replace the spring cover on a model 1892 without major disassembly of the receiver?

Thanks

It comes out from the inside IIRC, I recently had a Rossi 92 clone apart and thought about this very thing to myself. So no, must disassemble.

That’s what I figured but wanted to be sure. Thanks Jeremy. I know a couple gunsmiths, but vintage/antique lever actions aren’t their specialty.

Although the Rossi R92 is VERY similar, it’s still different enough. Some savant on here might have a better way for the 1892 but not from what I remember. Watch this video and at the 11:45 mark is how far you’d have to go. Pushing it out is probably doable earlier on, but worming one back in there would be harder.

Thanks Jeremy I saw that video. A lot more than I want to try for the first time. I’m good to disassemble everything until I get to the guts of the receiver. Not my jam.

There would be no glory if I’m the one putting the receiver parts back together 😅.

My favorite part of disassembling something for the first time is when you pull out an assembly and BOING, out falls a tiny piece or two and you wonder, “now where the hell did that come from?” Laugh

Having said that, patience is key and just follow the video, you’d get it!
