I have been slowly getting my gun shed set up with tools and some machinery. But I couldn’t find inexpensive parallel smooth jaw pliers. Now I found them http://www.ottofrei.com/Parallel-Pliers-Flat-Nose-Smooth-Jaw-Made-in-England
Thought I’d share incise someone else needed some.

I have the Knipex ones, they have a wider range of  adjustment. They make them in 5″ to 12″ models

What do you use smooth jaw pliers for on a firearm?  Just curious.

Found them in all sorts of places, from eBay, Amazon, Micromark and Brownell’s from $15 on up, and also soft jawed ones at garrettwade.com.  Most places describe them for jewelry applications.

Best Regards,

I don’t know what Vince uses it for but I have never used one on a gun. I work on other stuff and have one in the tool box. They are handy to press things together if the item can’t be put in a vise or press  but limited by the max opening of the jaws. I have used them to press roll pins in if I can’t get a hammer and punch on them or the item is to delicate for a hammer.

Thanks Bob,

I have them in my garage tool box (plain ‘ole “Crescent” brand smooth jaw) but have never needed them for anything gun related.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing a gunsmithing trick or better way of doing something.

Now do you really think I am going to let a secret like that out on a public forum? ?

I’d bet Vince uses them to clamp the edge of a rainbow to a bush while he runs for his shovel.  Isn’t that what everyone uses them for?
