OfflineWelcome oldmodel!
I’m in agreement with Ted. Swap Meet, but I don’t think you did wrong by placing it in this category here either.
I can check my books by JWA, but I’m pretty sure other bolts, like the M-69 bolt will fit you’re rifle, and possibly other .22 cal. models similar. His Books on the M-69, and the M-75, have so much information in them, ans every page a person can learn something new. He might be along or another member might beat me to it, as several have picked up his books, and have all stated as I have, what a great investment.
So much of the Winchester .22 caliber rifles development, started with the M-72, as did a few other models like the M-56 and the M-57. Many of the other models, such as the M-69 have the 72 embossed into the back of the black butt plate, as they we’re interchangeable, as he states in his books. I can’t tell you how many I removed over the years to clean up the white phosphorous, with WD-40, on the butyl plastic like butt plate that had those markings on them.
Pictures of your rifle can help others help you find the right bolt, also. Not sure which bolt you need, but the straight blued bolt, slightly down turned, comes to mind, vs. the blued swept back bolt, and or the later version of the Chrome bolts! I could be wrong, but those are my early thoughts.

OnlineI’m thinking the 72A may require a different bolt than the box magazine or single shot models but I get in trouble when I think, especially at 4A. I unwisely sold my 72A last year or I’d dig it out and check.

OfflineMike is correct, the model 72/72A bolt is unique to the 72, a 69 or 75 bolt will not work as the feed is different.
In detail, only the main bolt body is different, all the rest of the components are the same as the 69/75.
Look for a replacement bolt that has the same 3 ridges on the underside near the bolt face as your other bolt. The 69 and 75 only have 1 ridge in the middle.

OfflineThanks Jeff, as I didn’t feel the 75 bolt would work, and being serial numbered to it’s M-75 rifle, I had my doubts. I wasn’t sure if the 69 or another bolt would work or not, as you’ve taught us more here on the forum!
As you know I’m never one to be afraid to put myself out there for the benefit of the team!
Thanks again!
