Hopefully, the 1886 fans can find a few useful tidbits in this episode, as I worked through a particularly obstinate 50-110. Otherwise, I hope you at least enjoy the black powder clouds at the end. Mark

Glad you got it worked out, Mark! Maybe my fellow Texan will get the chance to put a smack down on a few of our big Texas feral hogs with his 1886…if you didn’t burn up all his ammo!

Concur. What a beautiful ’86. Is that style the Lightweight version? I wouldn’t have thought it so manageable in 50-110. To each his own, but I think the short magazine 1886 is the ultimate Winchester and the sum of all mechanical things graceful and functional. And that one is truly a feral hog’s nightmare.

Another great video! When you were describing about how some previous owner probably broke the carrier by using gorilla strength to try and move the lever. I could hear my late father’s voice saying, “don’t force it.”

Bill,
Your father must not have been acquainted with the U.S. Navy… or the old axiom “When all else fails, get a bigger hammer!“
