The magazine is two piece (a front part and the back part with the sides) the front part is very tight so it needs to be tapped in place. While doing so the front and back separated. I cannot determine how the two were held together. Does anyone know how the two pieces were attached? I am not talking about the lifter  which should be loose when the pin is removed.

I recommend that you contact Mark Douglas via a PM.  He is one of our resident Model 1895 experts, and a certified gun smith – The Cinnabar – YouTube
