I have a beautifully optioned 1892 Carbine chambered in 32-20.  Gave it to a friend to look over.  He discovered it has a “WP” double stamp on the barrel and the receiver.

Does that automatically mean it’s a restoration or is it possible the proof stamper at the factory just had a bad day.  The bluing, fit and finish otherwise looks great.

What is the serial number on your Model 1892?  If it was manufactured prior to June/July 1905, it should not have the superposed “WP” proof mark stamps on the barrel and receiver frame.  If it was manufactured in or after June 1905, it should have the proof marks stamped on the barrel and receiver frame.

Posting a URL to pictures would be beneficial.
