Good afternoon. I am in need of a forend/forearm for an 1886 Winchester. Heavy barrel with half octagon, half round. I have forends/forearms for regular octagon rifles but they appear to be too narrow to fit the heavy barrel. Question: were the regular barrel forends/forearms trimmed more on the inside to accommodate the heavy octagon or was there a larger forend/forearm manufactured?

Trimmed inside.  Outside dimensions were the same for all 1886 rifle forarms.  Depending on how heavy the barrel is, the wood can get pretty  thin.

good morning. thank you much. this was my suspicion. reading the winchester books that i have, all indicate the same thing. it never hurts to ask.
