Creating a “username” requires nothing more than a basic internet connection. If we allowed everyone with an internet connection to post pictures, we would be inundated with Spam and porn within mere hours.
Everyone (including “newbies”) is allowed to post a text only message. However, the first several messages they post do not automatically get posted for all to see on the forums. They require Admin/Moderator review and approval. This is the second hurdle that the thousands of Spammers out there must attempt to get past. Many of them attempt to use bots, and those are automatically blocked.
Your “untethered” access is indeed directly tied to your WACA membership status. That stated, if a WACA member were to post Spam, it would very quickly come to my attention, and I would first send a warning message (email & PM), and then if necessary, I would suspend that member’s access.
Unbeknownst to most of the WACA membership, there is a very substantial amount of “behind the scenes” activities and counter efforts that take place on this website.

I just thought if you created an account with a username you created it because you have an interest in Winchester firearms.
That is simply a very naive thought, and something that the crooks, criminals, and Chinese exploit.

I hope my inquiry didn’t upset anyone! I just want to be able to accurately describe an item when I sell it as I don’t know much *anything* about Winchester sights— I got the 1911 barrel I wanted from an auction lot and the rest was just included.
Also I am new to message boards, never used one except a few months ago to ask about some Colt parts. But the image hosting for here wasn’t hard at all, there are free hosting sites available.
I really appreciate the level of help offered already from this board (and Colt’s).
