There is a Winchester Model 1894 38-55 up for Auction on the Kidd Family Auction site. Looks to be and advertised as excellent condition with original box. Have not physically seen rifle but looks like a Model 1894 with half octagon and round barrel. I had the auction house send me a photo of box which has a an electronic price code. Serial number on rifle and box is 00010ZX94C. Does anyone know if this is a legitimate serial number. Would seem like this is a knock off but advertised as a Winchester.

It is a brand new production rifle made for the Browning Arms Company in Japan (Miroku).   It technically is not a true “Winchester”.

Suspect it’s also a Model 94 not Model 1894

You are correct… Model 94 Sporter | Lever-Action Rifle | Winchester (winchesterguns.com)

A half-octagon barreled is probably some sort of special edition. Those are still good quality rifles although they don’t get much love here. If the price is right and you want it, go for it!

Got a direct link?

The half-octagon barrel is standard on the current production Model 94 Sporter.  Click the link I posted in my previous post.

Very nice, I hadn’t seen those releases yet! Are they new? All the other “new” stuff I’ve seen recently was not half/half barrels…possible I just haven’t paid enough attention too.
