The diameter of the barrel and magazine tube on the .38 & .44 caliber carbines is nearly symmetrical in relationship to the barrel, whereas the magazine tube diameter on the .25 & .32 caliber carbines is significantly smaller. The forward barrel band used on the .38 & .44 caliber Model 1892 carbines was also a carry-over from the Model 1873 Carbines.
