Does anyone know the serial number range an 1894 Eastern Carbine would fall into?  I am looking at one in the 575,000 range in 32-40?

Thank You

Kash,

There is no “specific” serial number range for the “Eastern” Carbine. They are found randomly from 1895 through 1930.

Resurrecting last year’s topic…actually, I’m glad I found it because I was getting ready to ask something similar.

What reference should we use when evaluating Eastern Carbines prior to 1920;  SRC minus 10%?

Chapter 4 of The Red Book doesn’t mention Easter carbines; only SRCs.  I stumbled on a  ~ 60-70% Eastern Carbine, cir. 1918, that was interesting to me because it has Marbles front and rear sights, a half magazine, Lyman rear peep and a COL Whelen butt stock.  I went to The Red Book and found no Eastern Carbine section, until Chapter 5, so I thought maybe it was a Franken gun. Therefore, I didn’t respond to his $1600 asking price.

Guess I’ll call CFM Monday to see if they have the polishing room records on this one.

Regards,
Ron

Ron,

We did not put the “Eastern” Carbine in the earlier chapters because they were not a standard production variation. Prior to the 1920s, they were special order. Special order features add to the value versus subtracting from it. What is the serial number? Which style of shotgun butt plate does it have? The CFM has the Polishing Room records for serial numbers 1 – 1352066.

Do you have # 927596 in 32 WS.? An eastern carbine with the 4 1/2 composition buttplate. Post front sight and 44 rear.  It also has the 2/3 magazine. Pretty sure this was a special order carbine.   Big Larry

Larry,

I do not have 927596, but I do have 927896 which is identical in configuration, and yes, these were special order carbines.

Thanks Bert. I also have a near identical Eastern type carbine in 30 WCF, with the 2/3 mag. and the Whelen fluted type stock with M55 buttplate. # #1,063,189 from 1930. Near 98%. A beautiful carbine. Post front and M44 rear sights. One of my nicer carbines. Picked it up at a Reno show a few years back.  Big Larry

Larry,

Please double check the serial number… when you asked me about that Carbine a few years ago, you told me that it was “1063819” versus “1063189”.
