F/S - No trades. Winchester 52 Sporter model (built in 1936) in excellent condition. This rifle has a Weaver K4 scope and a Lyman receiver sight. The wood shows a half dozen minor handling marks that are the size of a common bb, or less. The metal has no marks or corrosion, with only minor edge wear at the muzzle and metal butt plate. The receiver is perfect without any evidence of 'the crack of doom". The trigger guard appears to have been professionally refinished. The "Sporting" stamping remains sharp. Includes are five magazines; 1 - original 5 shot, 2 - "W" 5 shot, 1 original 10 shot, and a single shot. The original leather strap with Winchester latches in excellent condition is included. Also included is the Herbert Houze book "The Winchester Model 52" (Amazon price $400+). The bore is sharp and bright and shoots clover leaf groups at 50 yards with CCI Mini Mag ammo. Priced @ $3950 plus actual shipping to your ffl.

I casually looked for a 56 for awhile before deciding that spot was covered satisfactorily by a very nice 57. Once I realized the 56 would not have a peep sight I lost interest. The few 56's I've run across were butchered and abused, one was almost unrecognizable. If you're not in a hurry I'm confident a nice one will come along. Getting examples of even the popular Winchester rimfires is quite the undertaking. Have you tried our friends in Whitesboro?

No hurry, it's just pretty elusive so far and the ones I've seen are as you say, not that good. Haven't tried them but they could have one "in the vault"... I figured someone on here doing the occasional "cull" might have one! I'll keep looking...

Been looking for awhile, and due to the extremely low production (and how .22s are treated), a nice model 56 has been quite elusive. Even the nicest original one I've ever seen (in .22 short even) just appeared on Cabela's used guns listings but had two whopping holes drilled into the receiver for a scope mount, but it still sold fast.

I have all the usual alerts set but not everywhere obviously... Thought I'd post it here for the hell of it in case someone was culling the herd, or had seen one somewhere I've missed, etc. etc. Let me know!
