I read most of the nonsense posted here. It is my gun and I don’t need anyone’s approval or care what anyone thinks. I will do what ever I want to this gun and care less what anyone thinks nitpicker on this forum thinks. Most of you are way off base and don’t know what you’re talking about. Don’t get personal, as some of you have and you know who you are. I know, You have the moderator to protect you as he deleted and amended some of my comments. So much for the 1st Amendment. I got phone calls from 1000’s of miles away, congratulating me for putting some of you nitpickers in your place. None of you can change a hair on my head, and the only thing I am fearful of is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some of you could not tell shit from shinola. Oh sure Bert will edit this too. I have everything I need in my life. I worked until I was 77. If I want it. I can buy it. I owe no one anything and my credit score is 850. Some of you should get a life. Be positive, not so negative. It hurts this forum. Who wants to pay to be abused? Not me. I belong to many other gun organizations, none are as bad as this one.Bert, Put this in your pipe and smoke it!

Morning Commissioner, I’m sorry if we hurt your feelings. I don’t believe that was anyone’s intent anymore than it was your intent to deceive anyone on your GI listing. If you read all the comments you will see where I stated as much because I’ve read your past posts and well just felt from them you were a good guy! The same as I feel about most of the folks who post here. I’ve enjoyed reading the pros and cons debated here and in other posts about restoration. I don’t agree with them all but they don’t all agree with me and that is ok. It isn’t personal. We all know it’s your gun and know you can do whatever you want with it but at the same time that doesn’t mean everyone has to like it. For example, I love Winchester Commemoratives (loved your matching set btw) and most on here don’t care for anything post 64 much less my fancy can’t shoot em keep in the box commemoratives! I’m not offended when the guys post or reply to me what they dislike about that market. I totally respect their right to be wrong! 😀I also think 95’s are ugly as sin and yet many on here love the hell out of those ugly monsters and that is ok too! I like reading all the different opinions on here as that is how I learn. Many on here like you, have a lot of experience under their belt and will post comments that make perfect sense to them and others but not to me because I lack their knowledge. Thus, I tend to post and ask why and can they explain in more detail so I can learn and I have found these guys have always been willing to do so. I posted a couple times in the thread and I assure you my intent wasn’t to nitpick but to learn. For example, the pics from LS&B show what looks like a lighter color stock to me as well as their is no Gap around the tang in the LS&B pics but there is a noticeable gap in your pics. Thus, I asked about it as I’ve never taken a 94 apart and have no clue what causes that but knew some of these guys have taken apart thousands and could share their insights with me so I can learn. It doesn’t mean their answers are right because I have seen Bert reply many times that this is the best answer he can give WITHOUT actually getting his hands on it. His opinion for sure and some others on here were offered only in response to my questions. I think the intentions were to help me not to insult you so please accept my apologies and don’t hold it against the guys. Yes, the guys can sometimes be a bit curmudgeonly and heck one of them Cranky Yankee even openly admits it in his name! How can you not respect honesty like that! Finally, nothing anyone said would have deterred me as a collector from buying your rifle. I’m not a reseller and am looking for only 3 things. Does it look good, does it speak to me and can I get it at a fair price. I respect some on here have other considerations when buying or those ugly 95’s would never get purchased! Likewise, totally respect you defending your Winchester and I’m 100% confident someone will buy it and love it! I hope you accept my apology and consider sticking around!

I have a WWI era Mills military 12 gauge shell belt for your consideration. I tried to list it on this site first but my pics were way oversize and it's beyond my computer skills to rectify that situation. If you want this item, send me a quick email (aaron21x2@yahoo.com) and I will kill the GB listing (as long as there are no bids on it).
This doesn’t mean I’m right but examples of recent sales. You can still get a lot of Winchester 1885 Single Shot rifle for not a tremendous amount of money:

It is unrealistic to compare sales prices of small bore low-wall Single Shot rifles to a large bore high-wall rifle. It is almost an "apples vs. oranges" comparison.
Bert

Okay, understood. I guess I tend to value condition more than whether or not a rifle is high wall or low wall.

Yes, in today’s market, I agree parts alone would be at least $1,000, however.

That's cool. Wish I had seen it. I've been looking for the WW I shotgun bag for a long time. I have never seen the belt before. By WW II through Viet Nam they were using detachable pouches on a belt.

If you are seriously interested in selling this, you need to put a $1200 or best offer and thank your lucky stars if someone offers you $1000 for it. That even might be a considerable stretch given it contains little to no case colouring and bluing left.
It has a replaced and refined barrel and it’s in a caliber that would be difficult to shoot affordably.
Sorry, but sometimes reality isn’t what you want it to be.

Thank for your input, although I would have appreciated that sort of reply more as a private message. I should clarify that the replacement barrel was replaced by Winchester early in the life of this rifle. I don't know how much of a difference that makes to a buyer.

My price was chosen by consulting Bert H. of this site, who also helped me determine the date of manufacture and the details of the barrel replacement. That said, I also realize that just because Bert suggests a price, doesn't mean that a buyer will appear who is ready to pay that price. I am certainly willing to deal and to acknowledge reality. That said, I am in no rush to sell. Therefore, I will keep your advice in mind but will probably try some things out before I drop the price that far.

In the meantime, I will consider any good faith offer.

Please see this thread for more info on the rifle: https://winchestercollector.org/forum/winchester-rifles/1885-high-wall-in-40-70-s-s/
