Selling Full & Sealed Box of 12 Rounds Of Vintage Frankford Arsenal Revolver .45 Schofield Cartridges Dated January 1884/June 13 1887. Manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal, these 12-round boxes of .45 caliber revolver ammunition were adopted for use in both the Colt Model 1873 and the Smith & Wesson Model 1875 Schofield. With the introduction of the Schofield Revolver in 1875, this shorter cartridge could be used in both the Colt and Schofield (with its shorter cylinder) and thus simplified the process of issuing ammunition. Box is in excellent condition and still sealed with the pull string still attached. Label is complete and fully legible. I took photos of all sides of the box. Asking $450 shipped. Selling Two Full & Sealed Boxes of 12 Rounds Of Vintage Frankford Arsenal 45 Schofield Cartridges Dated 1878. Manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal in 1878, these 12-round boxes of .45 caliber revolver ammunition were adopted for use in both the Colt Model 1873 and the Smith & Wesson Model 1875 Schofield. With the introduction of the Schofield Revolver in 1875, this shorter cartridge could be used in both the Colt and Schofield (with its shorter cylinder) and thus simplified the process of issuing ammunition. Both boxes are in excellent condition and still sealed with the pull strings still attached. Labels are complete and fully legible. I took photos of all sides of the boxes. There is no such thing as a "Stevens 25-20 Single Shot". Stevens did invent their own 25-21 and 25-25 Stevens cartridges. The 25-20 Single Shot cartridge was adopted by both Winchester and Stevens for their respective Single Shot rifle models.

The dies you have are for the 25-20 Single Shot cartridge. Winchester chambered it in many thousands of Single Shot rifles (both high-wall and low-wall).

While some may call it the "Stevens" 25-20, that is not actually correct. The Stevens Arms company did not invent it, instead they adopted that cartridge just like Winchester did.

The Stevens SINGLE SHOT cartridge is longer than the Winchester REPEATING cartridge.

They are NOT interchangeable.

The Stevens looks like a 22 Hornet . . . . ON STEROIDS!
