You’re joking. Don’t tell me you purchased that wonderful carbine Birthday treat firearm for just that—$4600!

I disremember why a Lyman 48 WJS-H would mot work for you. They are less common than the T version but -- as with the Redfield, the knobs can be swapped. If you have a 48 WJS-T, look for a trashed Lyman with Hunter knobs. I don't think the code would matter. If the knobs are the ones you want, look for a 48 with an unpopular code.

When you remove a knob be careful not to lose the tiny ball bearing that serves as a detent.

The knobs are more easily swapped from target to hunter on the Redfield 70 W, the more finely made predecessor of the 80. The 70 knobs are held on with screws while the 80 knobs are held on with pins.

If you are not scoping the rifle, the lack of a quick release button on the 70 is irrelevant.

If you can find a good 70T, buy it and look for a junker 70H on eBay and swap knobs.

If you can manage to remove and reinstall tiny pins, the same technique will work with the 80.
