Jeff, Hate to say it, but several high grade rifles I've seen were evidently left in the closet when the woodwork of the house was repainted, too! They will have a few drips of off white enamel paint on them!! I think Jim Curlovic will also agree! Tim

That box was also used for the very early 69A (circa 1938). Winchester did not initially differentiate the 69 and 69A, they were both considered catalog # G6902R.

That is a decent box but why do they all seem to have a water stain and paint spatter? 😉

Looking for a Model 69 (not the later 69A). The model is 6902. Must be in 98% or better condition. Must also be factory original. No holes, re-blued, refinished or reworked guns. The factory bluing must be full original "blue"... not flaking (very common) or "brown" (also common). I will gladly pay up for the right rifle. Please, this is a very specific request... no other variation will work. Please send pics & price. Seller must actually possess the gun, be a member in good standing on this forum. Please don't bother "phishing". I have a C&R so it can be sent directly to me. I will also be at the Cody show next month. Below is a pic of the "type" of 69 I am searching for. thanks in advance. No "printed" caliber on the gun, but my research and visual inspection indicate it's a rimfire, and my bore swab was a .45 auto brush so .44 Henry Rimfire is my conclusion. Just don't want to put anything in the listing that isn't clearly factual and I'm not setup to measure the inside of the chamber.

You are absolutely correct! The good news is that he has acknowledged that information and is not trying to pass this off as an original Nimschke.

"This rifle is **not represented as documented L.D. Nimschke work** and is not priced as an authenticated Nimschke-signed firearm".

For him to come here and ask advice, then take that advice and advertise this here as a "Copy",(we could argue on my wording), to me shows upstanding character.
