I disagree. The stock is exactly where it always has been. It could not fit any better. Why are you nitpicking on this gun? Did you bid on it? Are you pissed that I made it the way I liked it? I have dozens of Winchesters. Many in pristine condition in almost all calibers and models. I like it the way it is and don’t give a flying f*** what you think. It sounds like jealousy to me. Get a life.

Polishing to a mirror finish and charcoal blueing caused the issue, Mark Douglas has some great videos on the cinnabar’s channel about their process. I’d like to see the receiver in natural light. I probably would have replaced the wood if I went that route. Someone here I don’t remember right now had them do a 86 I think, that turned out fantastic.

Since the evidence doesn't support the mail order or take-off scenario is it possible this could be the result of some housecleaning of obsolete parts during the turbulent later years of Winchester or one of the subsequent owners? This wasn't a popular chambering so it's easy to imagine this barrel languishing in a parts bin.
