27-1/2" Barrell.  not sure the grade.  Beautiful checkered stock. Any easy way to determine the Grade?

I will assume that it does not have a Ventilated Rib barrel.  The Trap Gun and Skeet Gun grades were marked as such.  The Magnum grade had a 3" chamber, and the Deer Gun and the Riot Gun had shorter barrels.   Accordingly, the 28" fixed choke barrel implies that it is a Standard (Field) grade gun.

You have a 50-year old used gun... unknown gauge, or configuration.  We are not clairvoyant.

I am 6'4" and about 300 lbs so the recoil does not bother me.  I think I have given you the serial number, but if not, it is 113799.  It is a takedown.  Always thought these would have been a great forage shotgun for pack or saddlebag.  I was told the high wall action proved too expensive to use for what Winchester could charge for a single shot shot gun in the early teens.
  

I do have 113799 in the survey.

Winchester was able to manufacture the high-wall 20-ga shotguns relatively low-cost.  In 1913 & 1914 (when they were all manufactured), they still had a very substantial quantity of high-wall actions on hand.

I occasionally shoot a round of trap with a full choke Model 1885 20 gauge.  I shoots well as long as you cover the bird with the barrel.  It also gets a little hot making it more difficult to extract empties the last stations. 
  

You must be a glutton for punishment!  My Single Shot high-wall (Solid frame) 20-ga shotgun kicks like a proverbial Mule, even with light Skeet loads.  At just over 5-lbs it is too light of a gun to shoot a round of trap with it.

Have you provided me with the serial number on your Single Shot high-wall shotgun?  Currently, I have (109) of them documented (nearly all is the 113462 - 114855 serial range).
